Educational Requirements for becoming
a Director or Coordinator of Religious Education

• The Director of Religious Education has a Masters Degree in religious studies, religious education, theology or a related field from an Institution recognized by the Archdiocese of New York. 

 

• The Coordinator of Religious Education should have a bachelors' degree in any field and must be certified through the Catechist Formation Program, Levels I and II.

Basic Leadership Training Course: for directors and coordinators new to the Archdiocese of New York.

Advanced Catechetical Leadership: for coordinators who are taking any of the courses in the Advanced Leadership Formation.

Certification as a Director or Coordinator of Religious Education: for directors and coordinators who are on the path to certification.

Renewal of Certification: for certified directors and coordinators who are committed to maintaining their certification.

Certification-Related Events: for directors and coordinators who are certified or are in the supervision process for certification.
