Media Mindfulness
We are living in an information-driven society which bombards us indiscriminately with data – all treated as being of equal importance – and which leads to remarkable superficiality in the area of moral discernment. In response, we need to provide an education which teaches critical thinking and encourages the development of mature moral values. (Evangelii Gaudium, 64)
Media Mindfulness helps adults, youth and children gain insight into Christian living by asking questions of the media to which children and adults are exposed. Questions are used to elicit the connection between faith and culture. Questions, such as:
- “What would you have done in her place?”
- “How would you feel if that happened to you?”
- “What will you do next time you’re in that situation?” (See JClub Catholic for more.)
